Breast Lift

Breast Lift in Dallas, TX, With Dr. Stephanie Teotia

Social media, movies, and TV shows emphasize the importance of physical appearance for women. Breast lifts have become popular as they can enhance the size, shape, and overall appearance of the breasts, which play a key role in femininity and self-confidence. However, you might have noticed your breasts changing dramatically throughout your life due to factors such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, age, weight fluctuations, genetics, and gravity.

As your skin loses its youthful elasticity, your breasts will begin to droop, and your nipples will start pointing downward. The effects of deflated-looking breasts will eventually be challenging to hide, even when you are fully clothed. Breast lift surgery with Dr. Stephanie Teotia is an excellent way to reshape your silhouette and reverse the effects of time.

Benefits of a Breast Lift

If you are happy with your breasts’ size, but not their position, a breast lift may be your solution. A breast lift (mastopexy) carefully raises and reshapes your breasts to a more youthful position.

When performing a breast lift, Dr. Teotia will elevate your breasts by removing excess skin and reshaping the underlying tissue. If necessary, she will also reposition your nipples and reduce your areolas. A breast lift makes sagging, flattened breasts appear perkier and more rounded. Even without adding volume, precisely reshaping the breasts gives them a moderately plumper look and a firmer feel.

However, you also have the option of getting breast implants in a procedure referred to as breast lift with implants. This procedure combines breast lift surgery and breast augmentation to provide the benefits of each surgery.

What Can a Breast Lift in Dallas Do for You?

Patients choose Dr. Teotia, a leading female breast lift surgeon, to gain a more youthful, attractive appearance uniquely tailored to address what you want to correct. You can significantly benefit from a breast lift if you have:

  • Enlarged areolas
  • Nipples that fall below your breast creases
  • Asymmetrical or unusually shaped breasts
  • Stretched breast skin or expanded areolas
  • Self-consciousness about your breasts

Whether your breasts have had their current form since puberty, or if they have lost their shape because of pregnancy and breastfeeding, significant weight loss, or the natural aging process, Dr. Teotia will help you reach your aesthetic goals.

Who Is a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?

As with any cosmetic procedure, the decision to get a breast lift is intensely personal, and one you should only make after doing your research and carefully considering your options.

The best candidates for breast lift surgery are non-smoking women in good overall health with a positive attitude and realistic expectations. You should also have the following qualifications:

  • When you take your bra off, your nipples and areolas point toward the floor rather than straight ahead.
  • Your breasts have lost volume and shape due to age or after the hormonal changes of pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • If you place an object such as a pen or drinking straw under your breast, it stays in place instead of rolling away.
  • Your breasts have a flattened or elongated appearance.
  • When unsupported, one breast sits lower on your chest than the other.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding and have no plans for future children.

What Happens During Breast Lift Surgery?

Dr. Teotia will perform your breast lift while you are under general anesthesia. Depending on your unique procedure plan, Dr. Teotia will choose from four incision options

Through these incisions, Dr. Teotia will remove excess skin for firmer, more supported breasts. She will also reposition your nipple-areola complex in keeping with your improved breast position and create smaller areolas as necessary by removing skin around their perimeters. Then, Dr. Teotia and her team will close the incisions with sutures, adhesive, or surgical tape to minimize any visible scarring.

Depending on your procedure’s extent, the surgery takes from two to four hours. Once you wake up from sedation, you can usually go home, though some patients elect to stay overnight at the hospital. You will need a friend or family member to drive you home and someone to stay with you for at least the first 24 hours of your recovery.

What to Expect When Recovering from a Breast Lift

In the first few days after your breast lift, you can expect to experience some discomfort, swelling, and bruising. Dr. Teotia will prescribe pain medication as needed and will provide you with supportive garments or a specially fitted surgical bra.

You should plan for at least one week of downtime after the procedure. You’ll want to arrange for help around your home during this time, especially with lifting anything heavier than five pounds and reaching for things above your head. You also should not drive while you are taking pain medication.

Unless your job involves strenuous activity, repetitive motion, or lifting heavy objects, you should feel well enough to return to work in one to two weeks. You can also resume low-impact exercise, such as walking, at this point. By six weeks, you can resume your regular activity level.

As your partner at every step of your surgical journey, Dr. Teotia will provide detailed instructions for your recovery and gladly answer any questions you may have along the way.

Dallas Breast Lift FAQs

After a breast lift, you will notice an immediate improvement in your appearance. However, it will take a few weeks for your swelling to go down and a few months for the tissue to settle into its new position. It will also take several months for your scars to mature. Your results will last for years, and you can extend them by maintaining a steady weight and wearing well-fitted bras.

Several variables influence your procedure’s price. After learning about your goals during your consultation, Dr. Teotia can give you an accurate cost estimate.

Dr. Teotia will choose one of four incision techniques, depending on your personalized surgical plan. In all cases, she takes care to make the incisions in areas where she can conceal them, such as the creases under your breasts or the natural color change of the areolas. You can also minimize your chances of post-surgical scarring by keeping the incisions clean and covered while they heal.

Many women opt to get a lift and reduction simultaneously. Dr. Teotia and her team will tailor your surgery to give you the results you expect and deserve.

As with any surgery, there are risks, including infection, bleeding, scarring, and changes in nipple sensation. Dr. Teotia will explain these in detail during your private consultation.

Dr. Teotia will provide you with detailed instructions to follow. Generally, you should get your prescriptions filled, stop smoking, avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements, and arrange for someone to drive you home and help you around the house. Designate a quiet spot in your home where you can rest while you heal.

Many women can still nurse their children after a breast lift. This is not guaranteed as breast lift incisions can potentially disrupt nerves or ducts that lead to changes in nipple sensation and can cause difficulty breast feeding. Having nipple sensation following surgery is a good sign, but you will not know how breast feeding is affected until you try it. If you hope to breastfeed, please discuss this with Dr. Teotia during your consultation.

While you can resume light, low-impact walking in one to two weeks, please avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for six weeks.

Yes, a breast lift can improve your breast symmetry. Dr. Teotia will carefully create a more balanced appearance by lifting and reshaping your breasts.

We do not accept insurance for breast lifts.

During your breast lift, Dr. Teotia can reduce enlarged areolas to match your breasts’ improved shape and size.

Dr. Teotia performs most breast lifts on an outpatient basis, allowing patients to return home the same day. However, some women choose to stay overnight in the hospital for additional monitoring.

Dr. Teotia will prescribe pain medication as needed to help you manage discomfort. Follow all provided post-operative care instructions and wear your support garments as directed. Sleep on your back with your upper body slightly elevated to reduce swelling and avoid putting pressure on the breasts.

Your breasts will continue to change over time due to factors like gravity, weight fluctuations, and hormonal changes, but they will always look better than if you had not gotten this surgery.
