Here, she answers some frequently asked questions about The Cellfina System and explains the amazing benefits of this effective and long-lasting treatment.

Q: What is The Cellfina System?

Cellfina is the only FDA-approved, minimally invasive procedure clinically proven to improve the appearance of cellulite. It has been FDA-cleared to be effective for at least two years–the longest duration of any approved cellulite treatment available.  Cellfina treats the primary structural cause of cellulite instead of just the surface appearance.  The results are a smooth look that gives patients confidence in their skin.  Cellfina treatment is customized to each patient ensuring maximum results.

Q: What causes cellulite?

Cellulite is caused by different things in different women.  It can be caused by hormonal changes, pregnancy, genetics, or weight gain/loss. But a lot of the time, a person can be doing everything right for their health and still have cellulite.  Many patients have been vigorous exercisers and very focused on physical fitness and they still could not get rid of unwanted dimpling.

Q: How does Cellfina work?

Cellfina works by treating the actual cause of cellulite dimpling on the thighs and buttocks. Fibrous bands anchored to the skin hold fat cells in compartments under the skin’s surface. As these cells become enlarged, they push up and become visible on the surface of the skin. The fibrous bands holding these cells together pull down on the skin, causing the dimpling effect on the surface we call cellulite. With the Cellfina procedure, I can go in and release these fibrous bands from pulling down on the skin – creating a smooth skin surface.  This is a non-invasive procedure with minimal healing time.

Q: What can patients expect during and after the procedure?

A consultation can determine if a patient is a good candidate for Cellfina, as the procedure is not intended to treat all types of cellulite. I do the procedure right in the office. I use a local anesthetic to numb the area. Once numbed, I can then go in and release the tissue causing the area to dimple.  After the procedure, patients can drive themselves home. I ask them to keep on the post-operative dressings for 24 hours and then use compresses for two weeks.  Some patients report minor soreness or tenderness after the procedure. There is a follow-up appointment two weeks post-procedure, at which time the vast majority of patients see great results. I always remind them that these results will only continue to improve over time.

Q: Why is Cellfina better than other cellulite treatments?

Previously, treatments for cellulite included weight loss, massage, topical treatments, and other cosmetic procedures. These all proved temporary or ineffective in ridding the patient of cellulite. For the first time, I am excited to be able to finally offer patients a lasting treatment for their cellulite. Cellfina is non-invasive and it is the only procedure with proven long-term success in treating cellulite.

Q:  Why do you recommend Cellfina?

Simply put: Cellfina is the only proven solution to cellulite removal.  With a 96% patient satisfaction rate after two years, I have seen first-hand how Cellfina improves patients confidence and self-esteem.
