Dallas Local’s Abdominoplasty

After my breast reduction and abdominoplasty I can wear all my shirts and I feel great in them!

A flat and well-toned abdomen is something many of us strive for through exercise and weight control. Sometimes these methods do not allow us to achieve our goals. Pregnancy, weight change and genetics contribute to an abdomen that protrudes or is loose and sagging. Tummy tuck surgery, also known as abdominoplasty, removes excess fat and skin and restores weakened or separated muscles. This surgery both creates a smoother abdominal profile and removes excess skin.

A tummy tuck is not a substitute for weight loss, but it can help you achieve the body you want when paired with an appropriate diet and exercise program. Luckily I was able to lose a substantial amount of weight by following that regimen before my abdominoplasty. This is my story.

I was born in 1952 and grew up close to White Rock Lake in Dallas. It was the type of neighborhood where kids wake up early in the summertime and stay out till suppertime. Back then families ate dinner together; my parents, sister, and I were no different. It’s still one of my fondest memories to be gathered around at the table with those I loved most just talking about our day, possibly eating my favorite dish of mother’s oyster dressing and goulash.

I met my husband in grade school. It was hard not to notice him because he was funny and always made me laugh. One could thing him chasing me with a snake was a deal breaker but it wasn’t. We were already falling in love.

After graduating from highschool I was accepted into UT Austin (Hook’em Horns!) where I attended the McCombs School of Business and started prepping for my career in the Oil Industry, not to mention feed my passion of football! I enjoyed the excitement of Austin and the energy my classmates brought with them; we all seemed to have a hunger for knowledge.

In 2015 I was diagnosed with a pre-cancerous growth on my nose. Horrified by the potential of this diagnosis I decided to act quickly and scheduled an appointment to undergo Moh’s surgery with the Plastic Surgeon my Dermatologist recommended, Dr. Stephanie Teotia. She did a fabulous job. Her kind, down to earth demeanor made me feel comfortable and I was never scared of surgeries knowing she was in charge. Dr. Teotia is very comfortable to be around and an excellent physician. Her staff is wonderful as well and that is so important for recovering patients. There was no question in my mind that she would be my Plastic Surgeon here on out.

Since my initial surgery with her I’ve also had a breast reduction and an abdominoplasty. My breast always caused me a lot of discomfort mostly in my back. After losing a significant amount of weight I had a lot of excess skin that needed to be removed. Succeeding those two surgeries there was a bit of pain but lying in bed watching TV while the pain medication worked it’s magic was not bad at all. I started to see results a few weeks after my breast reduction and immediately after my abdominal surgery. By the second week of each procedure I was able to work from home.

These days I find the most pleasure in traveling and spending time with my two wonderful children. We do everything together: travel, go out to eat, see shows, hike, etc. I always say kids are a product of their upbringing and I’m very proud of the delightful adults my kids have turned out to be. Another thing that brings me great pleasure is the fact that I can wear all my shirts now and I feel great in them!
